On July 1, Walker Baptist Medical Center will be adding its fourth general surgeon to the surgical team. Dr. Carol Adams, who's originally from Dothan, will be making Jasper her new home.
"I grew up on a farm outside of Dothan and I am delighted to have the opportunity to come back to a community like my home to practice medicine," Adams said. She has a love for the outdoors and enjoys hiking, waterskiing and traveling with her husband, Vince. With her incredible energy, Dr. Adams is eager to get to work, but does look forward to spending time waterskiing on beautiful Smith Lake.
"I am drawn to Jasper because of the genuine kindness of the people here," Adams said. "From buying my new home in Jasper to making preparations to begin practicing here, everyone has been so helpful." Adams and Vince have already found a true connection with the people in this community with whom they have gotten to know.
"I am excited to welcome Dr. Adams to Jasper and to Walker Baptist, said Joel Tate, president of Walker Baptist. "I know she will be an asset not only to the medical community here in Walker County, but to the community as a whole."
Adams completed the residency program with Baptist Health System in Birmingham. She received her bachelors of science degree in chemistry and biology from Troy State University and her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She will be performing all types of general surgery procedures, including breast biopsies and stapled hemorrhoidectomies.
Laparoscopic colon resection is one of the latest advancements in laparoscopic procedures Adams will offer the community.
